Our Art & Design curriculum supports the development of creativity, confidence and skills, while also leaving space for independent exploration and self-expression
Art lessons provide a calm, structured environment where pupils feel safe to explore their ideas, take creative risks and develop independence. Creativity is used to support emotional regulation, communication and confidence, with mistakes viewed as a natural and valuable part of the learning process. Effort, imagination and personal progress are always celebrated.
Our Art curriculum aims to:
- Support emotional wellbeing and readiness to learn through trusting relationships and an environment that encourages expression without fear of judgement
- Build self-confidence by celebrating creativity, offering achievable steps and helping pupils take pride in their progress
- Develop practical skills in a range of artistic mediums, including drawing, painting and design, alongside evaluating and refining work
- Encourage curiosity, independence and a positive mindset through experimentation with materials, styles and techniques
- Provide personalised pathways, enabling pupils to work towards meaningful artistic goals, accreditation or qualifications suited to their needs and abilities
We aim for pupils to leave Jubilee School confident in their creative abilities, equipped with practical skills, self-belief and resilience, and ready to progress into further education, employment or life beyond school.
