Design and Technology Summer Term Newsletter
Over the coming term students will be exploring the use of micro controllers and microcomputers to design and create a range of bots or robots. Using microcontrollers to automate electronics projects has had a notably positive educational impact on students across engineering and technical education.
Some of the key impacts will include
· Enhanced Practical Understanding in Design and Technology and STEM
· Increased Motivation and Engagement
· Development of Problem-Solving and Engineering Skill
· Equity and Accessibility in Learning
· Development of skills relevant to future employment
Modern industry relies heavily on embedded systems and automation. Exposing students early to microcontroller-driven projects builds career readiness in areas like industrial automation, IoT device design, and mechatronics.
The lower school projects will be using maker code for the micro bits (similar to using SCRATCH block code). The higher school will be using a combination of C++ and Python to write code for Arduino based projects.
