Students explore the different types of Early Years settings, including nurseries, pre-schools, childminders, school-based provision and other childcare environments. They develop an understanding of what each setting offers, the age ranges they support, and how services are designed to meet the needs of children and families within the community.
A key focus of the course is understanding growth and development from birth to five years. Students learn about the stages of physical, cognitive, language, social and emotional development, and how these areas are interconnected.
Through this course, learners gain valuable knowledge of child development, early education practice and the responsibilities of working within childcare. The curriculum supports the development of practical understanding, communication skills and preparing students for further study or future careers in the early years sector
