This concentration can reduce anxiety and provide a calming effect similar to mindfulness. Completing a product or prototype gives a feeling of accomplishment. Seeing an idea turn into a real object helps to boost confidence and motivation.
Design and Technology allows individuals to express ideas, emotions, and identity through materials, shapes, colours, and functions. The design process involves identifying problems and developing solutions. Successfully solving these challenges can improve self-esteem and cognitive engagement. Hands-on making activities help our students feel more present and engaged, which may improve mood and overall wellbeing.
We actively encourage students to take their work home as gifts or presents for other family members and much of the student’s work is visible around the school.
